Our next destination was Danang. In Danang, we spent our time only with ICLS, a private institute teaching Korean to Vietnamese who wanted to study in Korea. But, before we went to ICLS, we visited the Cham Tribe Archaeological Museum where we could see the ancient culture of Vietnam.
When we went to ICLS, we were greeted by young Vietnamese who were working as assistant teachers. We listened to the presentation about ICLS. It is considered one of the largest Korean Language Institutes in the world, if not the largest, since its student number peaked at 700 before the COVID-19. The number dropped down to 80 and it is slowly getting restored now numbering 220.
After the orientation, I gave a lecture on Leadership and Kang Rak Lee on Career Path Planning. They were all attentive. They are the future of Vietnam.
We had a fabulous dinner at Pink Salt, a newly opened restaurant by a chef who had to close a restaurant during the COVID-19 pandemic. The presentation and the taster were both excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this restaurant.
Before we left Danang, we had a morning drive on motorbikes along the seashore visiting a couple of places.
Right after we arrived in Hochimin City, we visited K-Tech Korea which provides compressors, chillers, and generators for businesses in the city. He was considering expanding his business line to solar energy solutions. The owner was attending SfK BMT 2023. It was encouraging to see a successful businessman. He is married to a Vietnamese lady, firmily placing his feet in Vietnam.
Then, we visited Glory World which provides a variety of printing services for businesses. It was disappointing to hear that the business is suffering from the hardships that COVID-19 has caused them. We felt bad about having to leave earlier than the owner expected. But we agreed to follow up.
Vietnam has the highest number of per capita motorbikes in the world. Hochimin City probably has the highest rate even within Vietnam. During the traffic hours, streets are flooded with motorbikes that are moving like a tide.
We also visited
Rainbow Noraebang which was located in one of the major shopping malls in the city. It targets all generations of people with sound and affordable Korean-style instant singing experiences. We were impressed by the high-class ambiances provided at an affordable price.
We also had a meeting with the officers of the Korean Missionary Association and the officers of the Korean BAMer Association. Moreover, we held an MB Connect session jointly with BAMers in Hochimin City online. Rev. Sunki Bang talked about Christian's Financial Management.
Although it was a short visit, we felt that we witnessed the enormous potential outcome we can expect that these businesses will produce over time. - Jeffrey
