After we left Sofia, we crossed the border into Serbia and made a lunch stop in Nis or Nish, the third largest city of Serbia with a population of 350 thousands. More information about Serbia in the Belgrade post.
Nish played an important role in Serbia's history in its fight against the Ottoman Empire that ruled the city for 500 years. It was an important stop in the trade route between Istanbul and Hungary. We took a look at one of the old bath houses favored by the Ottoman people, now used as a jazz museum.
The town was nice and cozy. One scripture was interesting and drew the attention of many people.
We continued our journey to Belgrade, Serbia's capital and its largest city. - Jeffrey
