Trip to Yeosu (October 2021)

One of the things I was planning to do while I am visiting Korea for several months was to travel with my mom. I know she is 91 years of age, but she is healthy and strong enough to travel at a slow and mild pace.

I designed a 9-day trip to visit Yeosu, Suncheon, Mokpo, and Gochang all of which are located in the southern part of the Korean peninsula.

The first stop was Yeosu.

We took a metro rail from Osan to Cheonan-Asan to take a KTX (Korean Train Express) to Yeosu Expo station.

We rented a car to drive around.

We stayed at a pension near the port with the sea view.

The Expo Station was established primarily for the Expo held in this city. A boy statue was quite outstanding.

We went to watch the Big O Show that was a water show with fire and digital images.

We drove through five bridges connecting four islands between Yeosu and Goheung. It was a refreshing drive.

One of the most pleasant experiences was about food. The seafood-tang was the best among all. It was so abundant, delicious, and cost-worthy.

Another impressive cuisine was sashimi course meal. It was as much cost-worthy as the seafood-tang, but it was pretty good.

Nearby our lodging was a cable car system that was operating even at night over the town as well as the water.

Yeosu was a base for the famous and highly respected Admiral Sunshin Yi who defeated all battles with the Japanese invaders.

In addition to the turtle ship model that he used for the battles, there was a little statue of a young girl who symbolized many women who were forced to serve the Japanese soldiers with forced sex, which Japan denies.

One of the places we visited was an art street.

Also nearby our lodging was Dolsan Park where we could look over bridges and port.

Our trip to Yeosu was at a slow pace, but we enjoyed the time together. Farewell! - Jeffrey
