Mexico City (III) - Coyoacan, Mexico (December 2023)

One of the neighborhoods of CDMX is Coyoacan. It means Place of Coyotes. This fountain explains the story.

Unlike the name, however, it is one of the popular neighborhoods for various reasons. One of the reasons is that this neighborhood has a rock-solid foundation thus providing protection against earthquakes. The Spaniards lived here and the elites lived here. One of the most famous elites of Mexico is Frida Kahlo, a painter, who was born and buried in Coyoacan. We visited her former house, nicknamed Blue House, now a museum.

Frida Kahlo was not a normal person physically. She suffered a polio and she had to amputate her left leg. She had to wear supporting equipment all the time and Madonna liked her paintings and she mimicked Frida by wearing her supporting equipment in her performances.

She painted her life. So her own portraits comprise the majority of her paintings.

Close by Frida Kahlo's blue house was a central garden that was used as a gathering place for this cute town.

We may not fit into their culture well, but a lot of people visit this town, particularly Frida Kahlo's museum. - Jeffrey
