On August 5, we finally embarked on a seven-month trip. It was the first trip of such a length.
After we left our home in Greer SC, the first stop was Beavercreek OH, near Dayton and Centerville. It was a long drive but we enjoyed the trip. Kristin's friend Myung Hee and her husband Kwang Ho Cho are ministering to the refugees living in the area.
The next day, we worshipping at a Korean Grace Church, a Methodist church, worshipping in both Korean and English. The pastor delivered his message in a very succinct and clear manner. It was a blessing.
After we had lunch together at the church, we visited a local church where a short-term mission team consisting of a few churches in New Jersey was running a VBS. The ministry center, called No Longer Strangers or NLS, is where the couple serves and is focusing on serving the refugees primarily from Sudan and DR Congo.
We also visited their ministry center checking out the garden where they were growing a variety of vegetables.
We had dinner at a Vietnamese Pho restaurant that had a little tricky name to pronounce.
We visited an Eritrean family whom the Cho's couple has been serving. This young family lost a mom who died of a breast cancer a few years ago and the dad was raising three children. Thankfully, the children seem alright without their mom. We prayed for the family before we left.
It was a short visit, but we rejoiced together for what God is doing through the ministry for the refugees to feel and be No Longer Strangers. - Jeffrey
