Novi Sad, Serbia (August 2023)

After Belgrade, our next destination was Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia with a population of approximately 400 thousands, pretty close to Nish. Novi Sad is located in the northern part of Serbia, north of Belgrade and close to Croatia. Its history is complicated with many nations, regions, kingdoms, empires occupied this city.  Most recently, the Austro-Hungarian Empire occupied the city and left a heavy influence in this flat land. Novi Sad's most outstanding landmark is its fortress with a clock tower. Ascending to the clock towner was a challenge but the panoramic view was spectacular.

In our tour, we met a Korean-American couple who live in New York. They were older than we were, but were quite active. We enjoyed our companionship.

I found a sculpture carved into a tree that is still standing. Fascinating.

This visit was our second time, but we enjoyed the hike and the view.

As we were leaving Novi Sad, we said good bye to Serbia. We would soon leave Serbia into Romania. - Jeffrey
