Mazatlan (I) - Marina, Mexico (November 2023)

We were supposed to travel to Panama after our family gathering in Dallas, Texas. But, there were protests in Panama for more than a month by the time we were scheduled to travel over there. The protesters were blocking roads throughout the nation. Originally, we were planning to make a road trip from Panama City to Chitre, to David, to Boquete, and El Valle de Anton, before we leave Panama from Panama City.

But, we ended up canceling all trips because the situation in Panama remained uncertain. Instead, we chose to travel to Mazatlan and Mexico City, Mexico for a month before our scheduled trip to Mexico on December 23.

We chose Mazatlan because we visited this Pacific Pearl City once and liked the city. Also, El Cid timeshare resorts were steadily available. We wanted to stay at the resort for three weeks, but we were told that the maximum we could stay at any El Cid property was two weeks. So we stayed at two condominiums for a week before we checked in with El Cid El Moro Hotel and Resort.

Mazatlan is famous for shrimp. Its nickname is the Shirimp Capital. You can find restaurants that offer a variety of shrimp dishes.

Mazatlan consists of three areas: Marina, Golden Zone, and Centro. I ended up staying in all three areas.

Initially, we planned to stay at a condominium in the Marina area for a week. But, the condominium was merely a tiny room without any view. Moreover, bed sheets had holes and stains all over. Tiny ants were crawling in the bathroom and there were no amenities nearby. As a result, we ended up leaving the condominium after three nights.

The condominium's swimming pool and access to the marina's waterfront were good, but the room was unbearable.

The sunsets in the marina area were also beautiful.

We managed to stay and enjoy the marina area for thee nights. - Jeffrey
