Honolulu, Hawaii - Waikiki (September 2022)

After our stay at Pono Kai in Kauai, we flew to Honolulu and stayed at Waikiki for three nights. We stayed at Waikiki Resort Hotel and Kristin remembered that it was the same place when she and her college friends had a reunion. It is a small world.

We did a hop-on hop-off bus tour and visited several places.

Pearl Harbor Memorial - has several warships including USS Missouri.

Waikiki Beach and Sunset - Waikiki Beach is well known for easy access from the busy hotel district. It is always crowded. The most spectacular experience we had in Ohau was watching the Waikiki Sunset. It was in contrast with the sunrise we experienced at Pono Kai.

Diamond Head State Monument - Kristin said that hiking Diamond Head State Monument is on the 100 things to do before you die at one of the magazines. Diamond Head is a pinnacle at a crater, where you can have a bird's eye view of Honolulu. There is a military base that functions as a watch tower. It was not easy but we made it to the top.

We also made a few stops here and there from the Hop-on Hop-off bus. Hawaiian scenery is picture-perfect from any angle.

We were glad to have had a new-found joy of Kauai and Pono Kai, thankfully. - Jeffrey
