Escondido, California (September 2022)

After our stay in Hawaii, we flew to the mainland and drove to Escondido, California, south of Orange County near San Diego. We once stayed at this timeshare, Lawrence Welk, and we have decided to stay here again back to back after Hawaii. Unlike the island view in Hawaii, Escondido is a semi-desert scenery.

This Welk Resort was developed by a composer called Lawrence Welk and his statue stands in the village.

From the Welk Resort, we ventured out to various beaches. We visited Del Mar, La Jolla, San Diego, and Oceanside.

First, Del Mar. It is a small and quiet beach where you could relax.

Another beach we visited was La Jolla. It is a lot more commercialized and more visitors. There are more birds and sea animals to watch as well.

We drove down to San Diego to meet up with Kristin's friend Aeyon and her husband Dr. Chang. They used to live in La Canada, CA where we used to live. Kristin and Aeyon are college friends. We met at a restaurant in Sea Port Village near their condominium. After early dinner, we stopped over at their condominium for dessert. It was delightful to see them again.

We also visited Oceanside, a hip town where many young people gather to live and play. There are a lot of interesting restaurants and places to visit.

It was relaxing and restful to stay at the Welk Resort. - Jeffrey
