Vlore, Albania (February 2026)

The following day, we were heading to another beach town, called Vlore. It is the third most populous city of Albania. It sprawls on the Bay of Vlore and is surrounded by the foothills of the Ceraunian Mountains along the Albanian Adriatic and Ionian sea coasts.

On the way, we made an unexpected stop at a restaurant that had a natural spring, overflowing with ample water. People stopped to drink the water.

We also made a stop at Porto Palermo. It is a scenic, mostly uninhabited bay in southwestern Albania, near Himare in the Albanian Riviera. Famous for its crystal-clear waters, the historic Ali Pasha Fortress on a small peninsula, and a former submarine bunker, the place offers a quiet alternative to nearby crowded beaches.

We reached Vlore at sunset, so we did not have time to explore the town. We were told that Jared Kushner is making a major investment in developing a hotel and casino in an exclusive area. An international airport was also under construction. The beach was wide and well organized. Oh well... we were not interested in that story, but we found a fine restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

The following morning before we headed out to Berat, we did a short tour of Vlore town. Seeing locals and walking in the local market was an interesting experience.

We felt very happy about the previous day's tour programs and our experiences in Vlore as well. Vlore was more interesting to me than Sarande. - Jeffrey
