Podgorica, Montenegro (February 2026)

After we left Budva, our Gate1 travel continued to Tirana, Albania. From Tirana, our group continued another 10-day private tour to visit several places in Albania and a few places in the neighboring countries. Podgorica, Montenegro's capital city, was one of them. I felt it appropriate to post this blog right after the Bay of Kotor blog post to keep two posts back to back.

Podgorica was a small unattractive city. It did not have rich history, meaningful landmarks, or natural beauty. Probably the most boring city among all places we visited. Furthermore, the local guide was quite ineffective in explaining things and her accent was not even clearly understandable. So, there is nothing much to write about this blogpost. This clock tower was one of the significant ones she talked about, but even this was not that interesting.

One of the natural beauties was this waterfall that just falls a few meters.

The church the guide took us to was not that impressive either.

Probably, this Dalmatian dog was quite interesting because we did not see any of them on the Dalmatian cities in Croatia.

Nonetheless, our company was always interesting and fun to hang out with.

There was a statue of Alexander Pushkin, a famous Russian poet, gifted by Russia in 2002, symbolizes the friendship between Russia and Montenegro. It was one of very few attractions in Podgorica.

This tiny Roman ruin was introduced as an ancient architectural piece to note. So here you go.

We were glad that we did not schedule much for this city. - Jeffrey
