Our day trip to the east included Santa Maria del Tule. It is a small town located 11 km SE of the City of Oaxaca. But, this small town has a giant tree, namely El Arbor del Tule or the Tree of Tule. Its trunk had a circumference of 42 meters equating to a diameter of 14.05 meters as measured in 2005. Its age is approximately 2,000 years. This giant tree is still growing and looks fresh, healthy, and solid.
