Myles' First Birthday Party - Alameda, CA (February 2024)

After we spent almost two months, we traveled to San Franciso to celebrate the first birthday of Myles. Joyce made a nice decoration and ordered good food. Particularly, the monthly photo of Myles was quite pleasant and meaningful.

Since Kyle has a big family on both sides of his parents, the number of guests was close to 40. Kristin ordered the rice cake and paid for the food and venue rental costs. The overall party turned out very nice.

We took a photo with Nora, Kyle's mom. It was good to see her again.

We realized that one of Kyle's uncles was a Korean American, the husband of one of his dad's younger sisters. We enjoyed our conversation in Korean.

With his wife...

With Stewart as well, Kyle's dad...

With his mom and another relative...

And his extended family...

Overall, the party went well and everyone seemed happy. Myles or Yejoon looked really good with a Korean traditional clothes.

One of the Korean traditions for the first birthday is grabbing something that may indicate what his future job may look like. It is just for fun. He grabbed a castanets, an indication that he may become an entertainer. Oh well...

Birthday cakes are not for eating but for playing.... Right!

Joyce invited some of her grad school friends and a Peace Corps friend as well.

At home, Joyce and Kyle opened some of the gift boxes and one of them was quite complex.

Meanwhile, Amanda shared a photo taken at her church where Amanda and Ray dedicated their two sons to the Lord for raising them with faith in Christ. May the Lord help them in their journey!

We enjoyed our short time with Joyce and Kyle and of course, Myles before we returned the Turo car I rented in Alameda and took off again to Morocco. - Jeffrey
