Oaxaca (VIII) - Museums, Mexico (January 2024)

Oaxaca is a historical place. To experience history, visiting museums is the most effective way. We visited a few museums. Overall, their scales were quite small, but they provided a good insight into the history of Oaxaca.

Oaxaca Cultural Museum probably is the most famous one. It is located next to the famous Templo de Santo Domingo. It contains the cultural artifacts of Oaxaca in different ages.

The backyard was a beautiful garden with plenty of cactuses and the mountains in the distant background.

There were a few tiny but precious artifacts.

Inside the museum, one exhibition was quite interesting. They were art pieces of one lady artist. We enjoyed the exhibition.

Oaxaca Textile Museum was a small place. Its special exhibition was Japanese textile history. Their textiles are simple and quiet, unlike many other countries.

Oaxaca Paintings Museum was an even smaller place that exhibited the paintings of Oaxacan painters. It took us less than an hour to look around this museum.

Regardless of the size, visiting museums remains the best way to experience a different culture and history of a country. - Jeffrey
