Todra Gorge and Ouarzazate, Morocco (February 2024)

The following day, we left for Ouarzazate, the Moroccan version of Hollywood. Before arriving there, however, we made a stop at Todra Gorges.

Todra Gorges are a series of limestone river canyons, or wadi, in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. These deep cliff-sided canyons run 40 kilometers through the mountains.

Ouarzazate is a city south of Morocco's High Atlas Mountains. It is known as a gateway to the Sahara Desert, but is better known as Moroccan Hollywood because many films were made in this city, such as Lawrence of Saudi Arabia, Gladiators, Arabian Night etc.

In front of the movie studio was a huge Taourirt Kasbah where many films were shot. Unfortunately, however, the 2023 earthquake that killed 2900 and injured 6900 people in Morocco damaged this Kasbah seriously. It was closed and going under renovation.

Another Moroccan image was the following photo.

After a short visit to this humble city, we were getting excited about our next stop: Marrakesh. - Jeffrey
