Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga and grew up in this city for the first ten years. Later he moved to northern Spain but Malaga influenced him greatly to become an artist. There are two museums related to Picasso: the Picasso Museum and the Picasso Birthplace Museum. We decided to explore both.
The Picasso Museum exhibited many paintings painted by Picasso's followers under the name of El Eco de Picasso, along with Picasso's own paintings. Indeed, his influence was tremendous.
I am not an artist, so my shallow knowledge does not justify any attempt to explain the paintings, but one painting by Picasso deserves a mention. The following painting portrays the horrible image of the Korean War where soldiers are ready to shoot women and children. Picasso promoted peace and protested against war and violence.
The Picasso Birthplace Museum was located at his former residence. There was nothing much, but its location carried significance. Old furniture and some paintings were in the exhibition.
Our visit to Picasso Museums would not make us any more knowledgeable about Picasso's paintings, but I felt a bit closer to his painting system. - Jeffrey
