Gabe's First Birthday - Lavon, Texas (March 2023)

For the past two and a half years, God has blessed us with many things, but two things stand out: He has given us excellent medical services in a place where we did not know anyone and also three grandchildren: Eli Jihoon Smith, Gabriel Joontae Smith, and Myles Lee Yejoon Mock.

Before we travel to Korea, we went to Lavon Texas to celebrate the first birthday of Gabriel Smith, our second grandson. In Korean culture, the first birthday is significant and the family holds a big celebration.

When Gabe was given several choices of his potential vocations, he grabbed a painting brush, indicating that he may become an artist. Oh well... In reality, he stumbled and grabbed one that happened to be in his hand.

Gabe in his father's and mother's arm.

The birthday celebration in a Korean traditional way requires rice cake and fruits. A western style cake squeezed into the scene, though.

I also had the privilege of holding up Gabe and it was a big deal that he smiled because he looks serious in general.

This photo looks funny because Gabe looks like he is listening to his grandpa, together with Zoey.

Gabe's big brother Eli still dominates over his little brother, but Gabe is already big and is growing fast. It was so much fun to play with them.

Amanda has put together some photos in a collage.

It is my prayer that they will grow into God-fearing godly children. May that be the reality! Amen! - Jeffrey
