Camino de Santiago Portuguese Day 8 (September 2024)

Now it was our eighth day. After a challenging walk the previous day, we were mentally prepared even for another difficult day. The distance was approximately 20 km to the Town of Arcade.

The initial ascent was quite sharp so we were saying... "Uhhhh... Another tough day ahead." We found out, however, that most of the remaining journey was walking on the ridges with beautiful views of a river. So, we were grateful and joyful walking along.

We had a snack lunch at a town where many pilgrims gathered to eat their lunch or snacks. We joined them and rested our aching legs. After lunch, we continued our walk mostly on shaded pathways. It made our walk even more pleasant.

After dinner at the hotel in Arcade where we stayed, we saw a group of people who were marching in a parade. It was a Catholic ritual to celebrate one of the local festivals.

The Camino walk was like human life. There were a lot of ups and downs on the way, also unexpectedly against our expectations. God is sovereign and rules over all the universe. Amen! - Jeffrey
