Camino de Santiago Portuguese Day 10 (September 2024)

Our 10th day was to walk approximately 20 km to the Town of Caldas de Reis. We have walked enough to know that we should not be preoccupied by the length of distance on Google Maps. The terrain could make the journey easy or hard. So we were prepared for the worst case scenario.

Mr. Yoon prominently showed ten fingers indicating that it was the tenth day.

The terrain was relatively flat so our walk was comfortable.

We noticed that it was the fall season. We saw many chestnut trees bearing chestnuts. Also, we saw many chestnuts fallen and scattered on the road.

We also passed by many vineyards. Spain and Portugal both produce quality wine and almost every other house has small and big vineyards.

Today, we met a young lady from Poland, Claudia, on the way. She said she was 27 years old and worked as a financial analyst in Krakow. She was quietly bubbly and pleasant. She said that her parents were not even 60 years old but said they were too old to do anything. She said she would tell them about us with our ages doing the Camino. We ran into her again in Santiago Compostela.

We saw many interesting buildings and landmarks on the way.

We met a young mom from Italy who was walking on the Camino with a baby on the stroller and thought she was amazing. We also saw a few people who were walking on the Camino carrying luggage on the rugged roads. I am sure they had a reason, but I would never dare to do so.

We had dinner at a restaurant in this small town. On the way back to the hotel, we saw a full moon that was the eighth moon of the year. I am sure this moon was more delightful to people in Korea.

We were grateful that we finished the first ten days of the Camino without a severe glitch. The full moon made us pleasant and satisfied. Now we have two more days to go. - Jeffrey
