Trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia (September 2017)

I made a short trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, together with Chan Jung Kim, Auditor for SfK Korea and a long time missionary to Cambodia and BAM practitioner. We wanted to learn about what is going on with BAM in Cambodia and to explore the possibility of identifying a candidate to be SfK's implementing member for Cambodia.

I ran a two-day seminar about BAM. Most of the participants were traditional missionaries with a few exceptions. The seminar was well received.

The greatest benefit of this trip was meeting Mr. Bong Rae Lee and his team of HESED, meaning loving kindness. Clearly, it is a missional business and even after a short meeting, we discovered quickly that we had the same heart to serve the Lord through missional businesses. Later, we had another follow up meeting at the airport, and another brainstorming session in Korea and a 3-day meeting in Chiang Mai. What a wonderful blessing it was!

Another fruitful meeting was with SL Sanyo. It was run by Mr. Choi who retired from Monami in Korea as an executive. He began with the business of selling Monami ball point pens, but later expanded the line of business to sell dried mangoes produced by the congregation members of a local church where he was assisting a Korean missionary. Their product was proven to be very tasty and popular during my later trip to the U.S.

Chan Jung Kim made meeting arrangements with several people, including Chairman Park, Jung Min Han, a structural engineer and a Cambodian accountant.

We also visited a dormitory facility in front of a college established by the Korean government through KOICA, namely NPIC.

I made a visit with a school project that Missionary In Song Baeho Kim is developing. He took me to his home to give me dozens of wooden cross that he has been making himself. His story related to making the wooden crosses touched my heart. He used to be a gangster leader that has transformed into a God's servant miraculously. Amazing story of God's power!

I was blessed by what I heard and what I saw despite the short period of the visit. God is able and He provides. Amen! - Jeffrey
