Our next stop was Vienna, Austria. I have a fond memory of Vienna. When I was working on my Ph.D. in Business Administration, I had to come to Vienna once a year for a few weeks to take classes in residence. It is a beautiful city full of arts and music. We walked around with a local guide to visit a few places, including this palace garden.
One of the landmarks of Vienna is St. Stephen's Cathedral. It surely is the defining symbol of Vienna, and the spiritual and cultural heart of Austria. Its beautiful architecture was outstanding and inspiring.
After the city tour with a local guide, we had free time. We strolled around the City Park.
We also walked around several merchants, including this artistic store.
One of the memorable experiences was visiting Mozart's House where Mozart spent several years when he studied and composed. Truly, he was a genius in music.
There was Empress Elisabeth of Austria, often called Sisi. She was the 19th-century version of Princess Diana. She was a free-spirited woman, trapped within a rigid monarchy. She is a cultural phenomenon, a historical icon, and a cornerstone of the city's massive tourism industry. You could find her poster, drawing, or story in various forms.
We signed up to attend a chamber-style recital that featured Mozart, Haydn, Vivaldi, and Strauss. It was delightful to listen to and see the rather short forms of various pieces of music. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Vienna is an art city, full of music and arts. I already miss this beautiful city. - Jeffrey
