Santillana del Mar, Spain (August 2025)

After we left Santander, the next destination was Santillana del Mar, a cute historic town in Cantabria Province. The first place we visited was Museo de Altamira. This place is dedicated to the discovery and paintings of the Altamira Cave. Unfortunately, the waiting time was too long to enter. So we had to pass the entrance. 

If we entered the museum, we would have been able to see the following rock paintings:

Santillana del Mar was a cute historic town. We walked on the cobblestone streets, visiting many shops that were selling cheese, chocolates, handicrafts, etc. 

The places we were visiting in Northern Spain were along the Camino de Santiago French Route. So, we found several alberques, or pilgrim lodging places, like the following we found in this town.

We could easily spend the whole day in this town, but we had to move on. - Jeffrey
