Trip to Busan and Geoje (October 2021)

While I was staying at my mom's house in Osan, I made a trip to Busan and Geoje, the second largest island in Korea.

The purpose was multi-fold. It was to spend time with Sungsoo Kim's family, to meet in person the BMT 2021 participants living in the Busan area, to visit with Elder Cho and his wife staying in Geoje Island, to meet up with Tae Hyoung Kim, and to meet up with Minjung Kim's family.

Sungsoo Kim is a long-time partner in SfK Ministries. He was the CEO of SfK Tanzania and has been serving as a lecturer for several BCT sessions and BMT from the beginning. He now serves as Deputy Director of SfK MB Academy and also Chief Administrative Officer for SfK Korea as well as a member of SfK Korea board. His wife also attended one of the BCT sessions held in Rwanda and their son David was serving in Tanzania as CEO of E3Empower Africa.

It was a great joy to spend time with them over dinner and tea overlooking the nigh view of the town.

There were several members of BMT 2021 class who are living in the Busan area. We had an in-person meeting with them over lunch. Tae Hyoung Kim, serving in Thailand, was also in attendance. I had a separate meeting with him to discuss his family issues.

We visited Brown Bak Cookies, owned and operated by Sungsoo Kim's second son James, to give him encouragement. The cookies and coffee were delicious!

While I was staying in Haeundae, Busan, I made a road trip to Geoje Island with Sungsoo Kim to meet up with Elder Cho and his wife Myunghee Kim. They are in the process of restoring their Korean nationality and were staying temporarily in this island. We did not spend as much time as we hoped, but felt encouraged by our mutual desire to serve the Lord.

Minjung Kim was one of the original SBS members in Rwanda. She got married in Daegu and they are now living in Jinju. They have one son and they drove from Jinju to Busan to meet with us. I also met up with Heeju and another Minjung Kim both of who were serving in Rwanda. Minjung treated us to dinner.

I also met up with Youngsoo Lee, my high school friend. He used to work in the shipbuilding industry and after his retirement, he is now helping his wife with a food supply business. It had been several years since we saw each other and I was delighted to see him again.

A lof of meetings took place while I was visiting Busan and all were joyous. Thank you, Lord!  - Jeffrey
