Huangshan Town, Anhui Province, China, (April 2019)

The road to Huangshan was not simple. We took a train from Shanghai to Huangshan North Station. Jerry or Xia greeted us.

From there, we drove to the Huangshan Town to check in to the hotel.

Huangshan has four industries for its economy. They are tea, woods and bamboos, ink sticks and stones, and silk along with Suzhou and Shanghai.

We walked over to an ink stick factory.

We walked around the Old Street where antique stores and merchants are assembled. The shops in the Old Street were pretty much of bamboo carvings, tea houses, calligraphy and sweets. Most of the tourists were Chinese, indicating that it is still new to foreign tourists.

The most famous would be calligraphy and Chinese paintings since Huangshan provides excellent scenery for their painting works.

We watched a traditional show that was quite colorful and grand in size, but we did not have the inspirational touch we could expect from such performances.

The following day, we took a bus and traveled 80 minutes to the bottom of the mountain. We dropped off our luggage at a hotel and with poncho purchased at 20 Yuan we set off.

We took a shuttle bus for 10 minutes on the winding road to the cable car station.

Huangshan Town Again...

After we returned to the bottom of Huangshan, we picked up the luggage and stopped over at a tea shop to taste the tea. Also we stopped over at the same restaurant for lunch, where we thoroughly enjoyed the foods.

Then, we took the express train to return to Shanghai.

The hotel we were supposed to check in for the Gate 1 Travel was changed to near Shanghai far from the Hongqiao Station we disembarked from the train. So we ended up taking a taxi thanks to a man who arranged for the car. It was Marriott Courtyard. - Jeffrey
