Guadalajara (VII) - Zapopan, Mexico (January 2024)

The Metropolitan Guadalajara consists of ten municipalities, as I explained earlier. I have covered so far City of Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque, Tonala, and now Zapopan. Zapopan is one of the largest municipalities, if not the largest. Also, it is known to be the most modern city and probably the richest city of the ten municipalities.

Zapopan Centro has a large plaza with the prominent cathedral overlooking the plaza. Its external size was quite large and the interior was beautiful.

In the plaza were two large head sculptures that were designed for children to play inside the sculptures.

Also we found a statue of the famous Aztec symbol, not Mexico's symbol, of eagle holding a snake on a cactus.

We took some photos and returned to our lodging because we both felt a bit weak in the aftermath of our illness. We were not completely well.

We took the metro lines 1 and 3 to go there and to return. There are three metro lines to date. I was told that they plan to build more lines. Kristin felt inconvenient to walk up and down the stairs. But, we made it home after we did a brief shopping at Walmart.

I was planning to visit the Plaza Patria, but we ended up skipping it. - Jeffrey
