After the amazing trip to Iguazu Falls and a short Buenos Aires city tour, we took Aerolineas Argentinas to Ushuaia for 3:40 hours. Ushuaia is called the End of the World or Fin del Mundo. It is at the tip of South America. I so longed to come over here by way of a motorcycle from the Artic Circle. I did not ride the motorbike, but I have now come here. Fin del Mundo. Ushuaia. It is at the bottom tip of South America.
So it is the end of the world.
Ushuaia is part of Patagonia. Patagonia is a region that covers part of Chile and part of Argentina. The name Patagonia is referred to as the land of big foot. There are two primary theories. One, the native people were wearing fur shoes that left pretty big footprints on the snow. The other originated from a monster called Patagon. Whatever makes sense to you. Ushuaia is the starting point of our trip to Patagonia. Yeah
Patagonia cannot be represented by one landmark because it is a vast region and has so many wonderous landmarks.
After we arrived at Ushuaia, we went to see the city. But the town was small and there was nothing significant. Nonetheless, we found quite a few interesting landmarks.
The hotel we stayed at was on a hill with a panoramic view of the Beagle Canal. It was fantastic!
We paid a visit to a Military Prison since it was one of the ways to increase the population in this part of Argentina. We were all wondering why we had to spend so much time in an unpleasant place.
The following day, we went to Tierra del Fuego National Park or Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego. This region was called Tierra del Fuego or Land of Fire. The name originated from the fact the indigenous people of the land were living naked because they did their hunting primarily in the water despite the harsh weather. So they had to use and carry fire all the time to dry and warm up their wet body.
At a park ranger station, we had another fabulous view, including Condor Mountain and a lake view. It was just marvelous.
At this place, I found a BMW GS1250, the most commonly used motorbike for long-distance traveling, which I would have used had I proceeded with the journey from Artic Circle to Ushuaia. So I took a shot with the bike for my forgotten motorbike trip.
We stopped by Lake Acigami which showed us a panoramic and breath-taking view of the mountains, clouds, blue sky, and the lake.
During our lunch break, we did something no one in our group dared to do. We ate the famous Ushuaia King Crabs. We acted quickly and split our group into two to be seated fast. Among the five of us, we ate three grand king crabs and two bowls of seafood stews. They were delicious! Mrs. Choi's skill to break the thick crab body and legs was phenomenal.
In the afternoon, we did a cruise in the Begal Canal. We went to see the birds and also the sea lions.
We took our group photo in Ushuaia.
The day was packed with wonder and thrilling accomplishments. Ushuaia remains a dear place to my heart. - Jeffrey
