Phnom Penh, Cambodia (December 2019)

As soon as Kristin and I returned from a two-month long trip to US, Mexico and Colombia, I had to travel to Phnom Penh on Dec 20 until I returned home on Dec 24.

The primary purpose of this trip was to provide training for Korean leadership on business management as well as Cambodian staff on BAM.

The greatest achievement for the two-day training for Korean leadership was to define and fix the company's Vision, Mission and Core Values. They are going to be used for other Hesed and Joybells entities in Korea.

Their 'thank you' notes warmed my heart.

As promised in October 2019 when I traveled over there, I also provided a basic training on BAM for Cambodian staff. Narein, a director responsible for palm sugar production, interpreted my English lectures to Khmer for the staff. Approximately 10 staff attended with sincere attitude, which was encouraging.

On the day I arrived, Hesed Cambodia held its annual Christmas celebration with all staff and their family members. Foods, games, praises and prizes made all participants happy.

I visited Canaan Church established in Kampongtsnang, in front of the palm sugar manufacturing plant still under construction. The Christmas service attracted many children as well as their parents. This children's ministry has been carried out for almost three years, under Narein's leadership. Now it is under a Koeran missionary's leadership and direction.

We made an equity investment in Srolan Mango Cambodia, because SfK Life as a non-profit was not allowed to take an equity position in a for-profit company in Cambodia. Under the leadership of Mr. Sukjoo Choi, Srolan Mango has been in operation for almost three years and is now being incorporated to scale up the operations. The second factory is under construction with approximately 15 workers to work at one location.

On the way back, we stopped by the first factory where Srolan Mango was started.

The dinner with the leadership was heart-warming.

In particular, the founder and the first CEO, Bongrae Lee, the second CEO, Jongin Im, and the new CEO, Sukjoo Choi were all present at one place.

I met with two missionaries from Yangon Myanmar, who came to be trained on roasting coffee beans.

I shared a message on Monday, December 23, at the staff worship service. Their gift exchange was joyous event for all participants.

Hesed Cambodia plays a very important role in the Hesed group as well as within SfK Network. I plan to spend more time with the leadership in 2020. - Jeffrey
