Medellin (V) - Foods, Colombia (November 2019)

One of the fun part of travel is trying new and different foods and drinks, particularly in a brand new country you visit, like Colombia.

On the first day, Joyce arrived in Medellin, we went out to hang out even if it was raining. Joyce picked a place called La Bronca and we had a few drinks. Joyce always has a unique taste and tries something new. We are boring with just beer Eh... But the nachos and vanilla ice cream with churros were excellent.

Even before Joyce arrived, we were passing by the steep hill of Calle 10 and found a Korean restaurant, called Eden. We tried out Korean dishes and they were okay. The owner couple and their son immigrated to Las Vegas, and moved to Chile and have been living in Medellin for the past five years.

With Amanda and Ray, we hung out at a restaurant in Zona Rosa El Poblado, a restaurant zone. The restaurant name slips my mind, but the foods were excellent. The quesadilla looked a bit weird, but the tacos looked quite exotic and my octopus was covered with banana chips.

Before we moved to Poblado, we stayed at a hotel in Laureles, namely Hotel El Porton San Joaquin. We had dinner once at the hotel and the foods were pretty well decorated.

They serviced fruits for breakfast at the hotel and they were also decorated with chocolates etc. Cute...

We hung out with Amanda and Ray at another restaurant, but I remembered to take the photo only after we began to eat. The foods looked like these.

Kristin prepared one breakfast and it looked pretty good.

On the last night with Joyce, she picked a restaurant called OCI.mde and it was really crowded. The foods were excellent and we enjoyed the ambiance well. The inside was really dark and the photos came out dark as well.

While we were exploring the town with Joyce, the lunch time came upon us. Again, Joyce picked a restaurant called Hacienda serving traditional Colombian foods. The restaurant ambiance looked pretty good, but apparently I placed an order for a wrong food. The steak meat was too smelly for me and I ended up leaving the foods. But, I was able to make up with a good dessert. Oh well...

On the last night with Amanda and Ray, we asked Ray to pick a restaurant. With Amanda, they chose a restaurant that serves the fusion foods of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. It was a pretty good choice. The rolls, the drinks and even the dessert were all good.

We ate more than the foods displayed above. But, it is always fun to show some photos of foods.
