We took a Shinkansen from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Sendai. Sendai is the capital city of Tohoku Region.

We hired a local guide, Bob, and we started a city tour as soon as we arrived and left the luggage at the hotel since it was too early to check-in.
Bob took us to department stores and markets for shopping, which was not interesting to us. However, we were told that wooden dolls are a specialty of Sendai.
There was a mentally retarded guy, but whenever he stepped in a store, the store attracted so many clients. So he became an icon of success and blessings. He has become a celebrity.
We went up to the tallest building and were able to see the city from above.
One of the highlights of our visit to Sendai was Gyutan or Cow Tongue BBQ. Bob made a reservation for us at one of the most famous restaurants. We ordered a course meal and it was too much food for us. The restaurant allocated a maximum of 90 minutes to eat the meal. Rapid turnover of the tables must have brought a lot of sales.
Sendai had covered-corridors filled with shops and restaurants. We strolled around several blocks.
Since we had only a half day in Sendai, our tour was short, but there was nothing spectacular about the city. - Jeffrey
