Dutch Nature Board Meeting, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (August 2025)

After the Joseph Summit in Almaty, Kevin, Micah, and I, along with some other people, crossed the border into Kyrgyzstan to Bishkek. It took us three and a half hours to the border town, called Kordai, and we crossed the Kazakhstan border first and the Kyrgyzstan border next. From the border, it took us another hour to reach Bishkek downtown, where Kevin and I stayed at a hotel. It was a clean boutique hotel with a city view from the rooftop. I realized that the rooftop bar and restaurant was a popular hip place for young people. I had a good fellowship time with Kevin, who chairs the Dutch Nature board.

Kyrgyzstan is considered the Switzerland of Central Asia because of the rugged and beautiful mountains. One photo depicts this nickname.

The hotel's breakfast was quite good in light of our previous experiences.

After the whole day board meeting on Saturday, I worshipped online at the hotel on Sunday, and crossed back to Almaty by land. Doing it together with other people is different from doing it alone. But I managed it.

It was a short and sweet two-day trip to Bishkek, but I would come back to Bishkek again later, with the BAM Field Trip people. - Jeffrey
