Trip to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg (July 2016)

Luxembourg is a small country even among the three countries that form the Benelux union, together with the Netherlands and Belgium. This union is a politico-economic union  The union has a Benelux Parliament that consists of representatives from three countries. It also involves intergovernmental cooperation.

Luxembourg has a population of a little more than 500,000 inhabitants on a land of 2,500 sq. km. Luxembourg City, the capital, has a little more than 100,000 inhabitants.

We walked around the city streets, peeping into shops. We sat down at a cafe sipping a cup of tea with some pastries.

Luxembourg's Grand Ducal Palace is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. A large national flag flying on the pole and the Monument of Remembrance (Gelle Fra), a war memorial, stood out in the city.

We had Jamie as the tour leader for the tour from Rome to London. He was the best tour guide I have had. He was intellectual, knowledgeable and personable. He was using music so effectively throughout the journey. He was willing to go an extra mile to help out the passengers. Three passengers had birthdays during the trip and Jamie arranged for birthday parties for all of them. He even made CDs for all passengers, which included most popular music pieces he used during the trip and distributed them to all. We were lucky to have him as our tour leader. I wish all tour leaders would be like him.

Luxembourg was a small country that still counts as another country that I have visited. It was the number 69. - Jeffrey
