SfK Life Board Meeting - Artesia, California (May 2023)

I left Korea a few days earlier than Kristin because I had to attend the SfK Life in-person board meeting in California.

Sam was traveling, but all other members were able to make it to the meeting. We reviewed the Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Business Model of SfK Ministries, and made slight changes to Mission to reflect the change in SfK Business Model.

I appreciate their service, and I pray that the Lord will raise the next generation of leaders for seamless succession to be completed sooner rather than later. - Jeffrey

Trip to Gosung, Korea (May 2023)

Kristin and I made a trip to Gosung, Gangwon-do province to visit Ms. Lim who has been a long-term sister to Kristin. We took an express bus to Sokcho and the couple picked us up from the bus terminal. The first place we stopped by on the way to their home was a unique restaurant and a park. The restaurant was established within a giant statue of a farmer.

The restaurant's name was "Baek-Gu, (meaning white dog) let us play!" What a funny name!

In Sorak Mountain, one of the most famous landmarks is Ulsan Bawi: a beautiful rock formation at the top of the mountain. It stands out even from a distance.

When we drove to visit a boardwalk around the seashore in Gangneung, we wanted to visit a silver town, because we wanted to experience Korean silver town life by taking a short stay. But, we decided not to do it after we found out that it is run by a cult.

We spent a good amount of time walking a boardwalk called Jungdong Simgok Bada Buchae-gil. This boardwalk was established around the seashore, including a rugged rocky shore as well as sand beaches. The scenery was beautiful and I took a lot of photos.

On the way back home, we stopped by a seafood restaurant where we took the photo of the hosting couple.

We also stopped by a coffee shop called Terarosa Coffee. It was a huge place inside a former factory. It looked like one of the landmark attractions of the area.

The hosting couple treated us well with a lot of fresh vegetable dishes.

In the vicinity of their house, I found a cafe/library with an interesting name. It looked interesting, but I did not have a chance to explore it. Perhaps next time.

I had to return to Seoul earlier than Kristin because of my other schedules. It was a refreshing getaway in the midst of my hectic meeting schedule. - Jeffrey

SfK Korea Board Meeting - Sokcho, Korea (April 2023)

One of the primary goals for my visit to Korea this time was to attend SfK Korea's in-person board meeting. It was an overnight trip to Sokcho, but it came out to be a blessing to us all. All nine members of the board attended the meeting.

Rev. Jae Chul Chung, Chairman of the Board, drove a van to travel together. What a servant leader!

On the way, we accidentally went to a tofu restaurant and it was a pleasant hit. The foods were all excellent and we were all satisfied.

After we checked in at the Kensington Resort, we began our meeting immediately. We did not have too much time because two of the members had to leave early in the morning. So we wanted to cover as much as possible before we went to sleep.

After the initial meeting, we had dinner at a buckwheat noodle place. It was one of the famous restaurants with high ratings.

After dinner, we stopped over at a cafe that was converted from a factory.

The cafe had a vault that displayed fake gold bullion. Apparently, it once was used for this purpose in the past.

After we returned, we continued the board meeting. It ended after midnight. Everyone was actively participating in the discussion and presentation. This time, a total of six directors gave their own presentations on the assignments.

The following day, we had a praising time in the morning, honoring God who has led us to this point. It is my prayer that the Lord will raise up more workers within SfK Korea to continue the momentum that has been building up in SfK programs. May that be a reality, Lord, in Your time! Amen! - Jeffrey
